Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son RZA’s birthday party was not built around subtlety. The couple celebrated their eldest child turning 4 on May 13 at the Sloomoo Institute in New York City, where the theme was slime, the commitment was total, and yes, Rihanna ended up under the goo.
The celebration brought together family and friends for a private event at the slime museum. According to People, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky rented out the entire venue for the occasion.
What happened at RZA’s slime-themed celebration?
The Sloomoo Institute described the party as an immersive event with sensory play activities, interactive installations, and custom slime creations. A representative for the venue said the space was also filled with “over-the-top balloon decor,” because apparently slime alone was not enough visual information.
Guests also took part in one of the museum’s signature attractions, Sloomoo Falls, where attendees stand beneath a slime waterfall and get drenched. It is exactly as understated as it sounds.
Rihanna, 38, joined in rather than watching safely from a dry distance. The Sloomoo Institute representative said the singer stood under the waterfall and was covered in gallons of slime. Fan footage shared online showed her wearing a clear plastic poncho from head to toe, which was practical, if not entirely victorious against the circumstances.
How did the family mark the birthday moment?
The evening still centered on RZA, not just the slime machinery. In video from the party, A$AP Rocky held RZA and the couple’s younger son Riot, 2, while Rihanna held their daughter Rocki, 8 months, as guests sang “Happy Birthday.”
At the end of the clip, Rihanna and A$AP helped RZA blow out the candles on a slime-decorated cake. It was a very specific kind of childhood memory: affectionate, messy, and probably difficult to remove from shoes.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed RZA in 2022. Their family grew again with Riot in 2023 and Rocki in 2025.
What has Rihanna said about building a family with A$AP Rocky?
The couple’s relationship grew out of a long friendship, though their romance did not begin until the pandemic. Rihanna has said the shift felt meaningful because of the way A$AP saw and supported her.
“I let God lead and just let go,” she told Interview Magazine in 2024. “Because in previous relationships, I tried and tried and tried my best, and you still feel like it’s not enough. So, when someone sees you completely, and believes in you, and thinks you’re worthy of being the mother of their kids, it’s a great feeling.”
She added, “I felt the same about him. I knew he would be a great dad.”
As for whether the family might grow again, Rihanna gave a characteristically open-ended answer: “As many as God wants me to have.”
