For fans who have ever wanted air travel to feel slightly less like a security queue and slightly more like choosing a starter, the Pokémon 30th anniversary planes are now starting to look real. Japanese airline All Nippon Airways has revealed the first designs for its Jet Red and Jet Green aircraft, both set to take off in 2026.
The reveal is part of a collaboration first announced in February, when ANA tied together two milestones: 30 years since Pokémon Red & Green launched in 1996, and 40 years of ANA International flights. At the time, the airline confirmed three new themed aircraft inspired by Red, Green, and Blue would roll out across 2026.
What do the Jet Red and Jet Green planes look like?
Jet Red is a specially painted Boeing 787-8 built around Fire-type starters from across the Pokémon series. Its design features Charmander, Cyndaquil, Chimchar, Tepig, Scorbunny, Fuecoco, and Pombo, the newly revealed starter from Pokémon Waves.
Jet Green, meanwhile, is a Boeing 787-9 covered in Grass-type starters. Its lineup includes Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig, Snivy, Chespin, Rowlet, Grookey, Sprigatito, and Browt from Pokémon Winds.
And because this is a Pokémon airline crossover, Pikachu is also on board, visually at least. The franchise’s most dependable yellow mascot appears prominently on both aircraft designs, because apparently even themed aviation cannot escape brand discipline.
