Mel B may not be promising a Spice Girls reunion tour, but she is not above giving fans a very pointed reminder of what they are missing.
The artist formerly known to every 1990s bedroom wall as Scary Spice joined Mel C onstage in Leeds on Saturday night, appearing during Sporty Spice’s show shortly after the release of Mel C’s album Sweat on Friday.
A hometown guest spot with real reunion energy
Mel B, who is from the Leeds area, came out during the concert and praised Mel C’s performance before the pair launched into “Spice Up Your Life,” one of the Spice Girls’ best-known singles.
The two performed the track together, moving around the stage and singing to a crowd that clearly understood the assignment. It marked the first time Mel B and Mel C had shared a stage since the Spice Girls’ most recent tour, which featured all members except Victoria Beckham.
That tour was the closest fans have had to a proper live reunion in years, though it still stopped short of the full five-piece lineup.
The reunion question is still complicated
The Leeds appearance lands just weeks after Mel B cooled expectations around another Spice Girls tour. Speaking to Hello! last month, she said she was not going to pressure the other members into getting the band back together and added that she would be surprised if it happened.
Mel C has sounded more open to the idea. Last week, she said she hoped another reunion would happen, which makes Saturday’s duet feel less like a random cameo and more like a small public test of the appetite. The appetite, for the record, did not appear subtle.
Still, a two-Spice performance is not the same as a five-member tour. The business of a reunion means aligning schedules, creative plans, family lives, and expectations, which is usually where nostalgia meets paperwork.
Where the full group stands
The last time all five Spice Girls performed together at a major public event was the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The group also had a smaller reunion at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration in 2024, but that was not a formal concert comeback.
For now, fans have a fresh Mel B and Mel C performance, a classic Spice Girls song back onstage, and no confirmed reunion tour. In Spice Girls terms, that is not nothing, but it is also not the full zig-a-zig-ah package.
