Jelly Roll Has Lost Nearly 200 Lbs, But His Wildest Goal Is Still Ahead

CelebrityJelly Roll Has Lost Nearly 200 Lbs, But His Wildest Goal Is Still Ahead

Jelly Roll has lost nearly 200 lbs. after beginning his weight-loss journey at 540 lbs., but the country singer has no intention of stopping there: his next target involves shedding another 100 lbs. and jumping out of a plane with his wife.

The 40-year-old musician, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, revealed that he weighed 357 lbs. during an appearance on Pat McAfee’s Big Night Aht live show on Wednesday, April 9.

That represents a loss of 183 lbs. from his stated starting weight — roughly the equivalent of another adult, as McAfee rather directly observed.

“It looks like you’ve lost a person,” the sports analyst told him as Jelly Roll stepped back to display his transformation.

McAfee congratulated the “Save Me” singer while the live audience applauded and Jelly Roll celebrated with a brief dance.

Asked to explain where his journey began and how far he had come, the singer replied: “I started at 540 lbs. I’m 357 lbs. [as of] this morning, baby!”

The announcement drew another round of cheers, but Jelly Roll quickly shifted attention towards his next goal.

“Imma lose another 100 lbs. to go skydiving with my wife in Sweden, baby!” he shouted into the microphone.

McAfee enthusiastically backed the plan, playfully throwing punches before offering a more serious message of support.

“Live a little bit! Well, we’re all proud of you, we need you to survive, brother, you’re one of the good ones,” he said.

Why the transformation carries personal weight

Jelly Roll has spoken candidly about living with obesity and the effect his weight has had on his life. During a December 2024 appearance on his wife Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, he described himself at the time as “morbidly obese” and discussed his determination to continue changing his health.

He also pushed back against any suggestion that his size had helped to create his public identity or career.

“What I want the world to know, and I want people to see ... is that I didn’t become successful because of my weight. I became successful in spite of it,” he said.

“I somehow managed to be this successful carrying 550 pounds. That’s insane.”

The comments framed his transformation as more than a celebrity fitness project. Jelly Roll had already built a major music career while carrying considerably more weight, and he now wants the physical change to become another visible part of his story.

A Men’s Health cover is his bigger target

The singer has attached both a deadline and a suitably public benchmark to his ambitions.

During the same podcast conversation, Jelly Roll said he wanted to appear on the cover of Men’s Health by March 2026 — an aspiration he said he had never previously disclosed.

“That’s my new goal,” he said. “I wanna have one of the biggest transformations.”

Bunnie responded that the ambition made her “so giddy,” adding her support to a journey Jelly Roll has increasingly discussed in public.

Whether the magazine cover materialises will depend on decisions beyond his control. Losing the weight, by contrast, is a target he has already shown he can pursue with considerable momentum.

Bunnie Xo is part of his next challenge

Jelly Roll’s proposed skydiving trip would add another chapter to his unconventional relationship with Bunnie.

The couple met after she attended one of his concerts in Las Vegas in 2015. They dated for roughly a year before Jelly Roll proposed onstage during another Las Vegas performance in 2016.

Rather than stretch the engagement into a prolonged production, they went directly to a courthouse and eloped.

Now Sweden and a shared skydive are waiting at the end of his next 100-lb. target. At 357 lbs., Jelly Roll remains some distance from the number he has set himself, but the first 183 lbs. are no longer an ambition announced into a microphone. They are already gone.
