Cardi B fashion remains very much Cardi B fashion, children or not. The Grammy-winning rapper says motherhood has not toned down her appetite for diamonds, dramatic looks and the general business of being seen. It has, however, added a few practical boundaries, mostly involving school settings and shirts that leave very little to the imagination.
How has motherhood changed Cardi B’s style?
Speaking in an exclusive interview with E! News, Cardi B joked that raising four children has not exactly turned her into a minimalist.
"It hasn't. F--k that, they haven't changed me for sh--t!" she said, before allowing one sensible exception: "I'm not gonna go to my daughter's school with a see-through shirt or with a shirt [where] my nipples are rock hard."
That is about as close as Cardi gets to a capsule wardrobe manifesto.
The rapper shares Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and Blossom, 20 months, with her ex Offset. She also has a 5-month-old son with Stefon Diggs. Her life now includes both high-glamour appearances and parent duties, and she seems clear that those worlds require different styling choices, not a full personality transplant.
Why fashion still matters to her
Cardi, now an ambassador for Fashionphile, the luxury fashion resale site, described clothing as more than a public image tool. For her, it is part confidence boost, part creative outlet.
"Fashion is a big thing in my life. It makes me feel good, it makes me feel sexy," she said. "If I'm not working on music or if I'm not doing music videos, I want to get creative throughout the day. Changing your clothes, like doing different hair, doing different makeup, doing different accessories, I love fashion, fashion is my thing."
She also said getting dressed up helps her stay energized during motherhood, especially while dealing with what she called "tour withdrawal."
"I like to get dressed up, I like to feel nice," Cardi said. "When you look good, you want to work, you want to go outside, you want to do something."
For an artist whose career has often blended music, visuals and spectacle, that tracks. The clothes are not just decoration. They are part of the engine.
Kulture is already raiding the closet
Cardi’s love of fashion appears to have reached the next generation, starting with her eldest daughter. Kulture, she said, has developed a strong interest in her mother’s closet, though not without rules.
"Oh my god. This girl [Kulture] is always in my closet," Cardi said with a laugh. "I'm about sick of it, but she already knows the rules, my clothes, whatever, and my shoes, whatever, but don't touch Mommy's purses. You already wrote on one of them."
Cardi described Kulture’s taste as bright and playful, with an eye for graphics, rainbows and flowers.
"She loves colorful things," Cardi said. "She's a very vibrant girl…She's a girly girl."
It is a small glimpse into the family side of a public figure often seen through performance and red carpets: a mother protecting her designer bags from a child with a pen. Relatable, if your closet happens to contain rare luxury handbags.
What her Fashionphile role adds
As Cardi spends time offstage with her family before moving into her next album, which she has described as "less personal," she is also taking on outside projects. Her Fashionphile partnership fits neatly into her long-running interest in designer pieces, especially the harder-to-find kind.
"Fashionphile is the perfect fit for me because they have some bags that I've been trying to look for all over the world," she said. "New bags, vintage bags, [ones] that they just don't have in the store anymore."
And while Cardi is known for luxury, she was also direct about the appeal of resale pricing.
"I like me a discount, honey," she said. "I don't want to pay extra."
So no, motherhood has not made Cardi B less interested in fashion. It has simply given her more places to dress for, more people watching from the hallway, and at least one child who needs to stay away from the purses.
