Asmongold has not said that he received a cancer diagnosis. His concern came from the similarity he perceived between his symptom and his father’s experience, rather than from a confirmed medical finding.
When he eventually learned that Twitch had suspended Zackrawrr for two weeks, the timing made the punishment feel strangely useful.
“Thank God,” he recalled thinking. “Now, I’m going to have two weeks to deal with this problem.”
What may have caused the Twitch suspension?
Twitch has not publicly identified the violation, and Asmongold said the company had not told him what prompted the action.
“Twitch has never communicated to me what the thing is that I did wrong that got me banned,” he said. “I’m just guessing it’s probably the thing that everybody was mad about.”
He believes the likely cause was a broadcast in which he watched a video by Nick Shirley about migrants entering Ceuta, the Spanish enclave on the North African coast.
The streamer described the issue broadly as criticism over his remarks about migrants. Clips and discussions circulated on Reddit presented a more serious account. Multiple posts said he argued that people crossing the border should be shot and maintained that the presence of children should not prevent armed action.
Those clips came from a broadcast that was later deleted, and Twitch has not confirmed that they caused the suspension. Still, the distinction matters. “Controversial comments” can cover a wide range of internet noise. Calls for armed force against border crossers are rather more specific.
Twitch’s guidelines state that enforcement can cover all content on the platform and that a suspension can prevent an account from streaming across the service. The company’s public silence leaves Asmongold’s explanation as an educated guess, which is not an especially informative moderation notice.
What was happening in Ceuta?
The situation behind the broadcast was not a routine border dispute. The Associated Press reported that Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska estimated around 72,000 people crossed into Ceuta in late July, with most later returning to Morocco.
Around 1,000 minors remained in the enclave, including children separated from relatives. Ceuta reportedly had accommodation designed for only 29 minors, leaving local services severely overwhelmed. Reports also described deaths, family separation and children stranded without adequate support.
Reuters reported that migrants overwhelmed police near the breakwater and that Spain promised immediate deportations for unlawful entries. Before the late-July surge, Spain’s Interior Ministry had recorded nearly 3,000 irregular arrivals in Ceuta and Melilla through July 15.
Ceuta president Juan Jesús Vivas called the situation an “absolute humanitarian and social emergency,” according to EFE. He requested a national emergency declaration and a unified command to coordinate the response.
That context complicates the viral framing of the arrivals as an invasion. Border enforcement was part of the story, but so were overcrowded facilities, separated families and minors caught in an enclave that lacked the capacity to house them.
Will the suspension be reduced?
Asmongold said he planned to appeal the 14-day penalty and hoped Twitch would reduce it to one week. He also mentioned possibly streaming on Kick or treating the enforced absence as a vacation.
As of August 11, no verified appeal result or shortened suspension had been reported. Zackrawrr remained unavailable, and no new broadcast appeared in available channel records. Discussion among viewers also raised Kick and Rumble as alternatives, but neither represented a confirmed move.
The suspension affects one of Twitch’s largest channels. Zackrawrr had around 2.4 million followers and ranked fourth on the platform in 2026, according to Streams Charts.
For now, Asmongold’s immediate plan is less dramatic than a platform migration. He has two weeks away from Twitch, follow-up medical testing to arrange and no official explanation for the punishment that created the free time.
