Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould are roommates now, which is either a sweet post-Modern Family update or the most low-budget reboot pitch Hollywood has produced this month. Winter revealed that she is sharing a Los Angeles rental with Gould, her former onscreen brother, shortly after confirming her split from longtime boyfriend Luke Benward.

Winter, 28, told People in an interview published May 18 that she has been spending more time in Los Angeles and is renting a house there with Gould, 27.
"It's funny because I spend more time out here now and I rent a house with Nolan," she said. "People ask me about a Modern Family reboot, but Nolan and I are real roommates now."
She added, "It's like we're having our own little Modern Family reboot, but it's just the two of us living together. So I see him every day."
The reveal came four days after Winter confirmed her breakup with Benward, whom she had lived with in Nashville since 2022. She has also made clear that the split has not turned hostile, saying last week that she and Benward are still "best friends."
Their real-life routine apparently has sitcom potential
Winter said the living arrangement is not just practical. It also sounds entertaining, at least if your standards include reality TV commentary from two actors who grew up on one of television’s biggest family comedies.
"I'm not gonna lie, when we sit there at night and we watch, like, Temptation Island together, it's pretty hilarious," she said. "So we have thought about [sharing] it. We're just like, ‘People would find this really funny.’"
That is not quite a formal series announcement, naturally. It is more the kind of casual observation that becomes a meeting somewhere if enough people say “content” with a serious face. Still, for viewers who watched Winter and Gould play Alex and Luke Dunphy for years, the idea has an obvious appeal.
Their Modern Family bond lasted beyond the finale
Winter had already spoken about how close she remains with Gould. In May 2025, she told People, "I'm extremely close to Nolan. He plays my little brother, and he and I are still best friends."
That connection appears to be part of a wider bond with the Modern Family cast. Winter has also described staying close to castmates including Julie Bowen, Sofía Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
"We really were like a real family," she said, reflecting on the series ending in 2020. She added that it was "hard" to say goodbye to the regular rhythm of working together after so many years.
"It was weird knowing it would just be over, and I wouldn't get to see everybody all the time anymore," Winter said. "It was like, 'Wait, yeah, wait, we're not going to be together on Monday?'"
For Winter, sharing a home with Gould now seems to bring a small piece of that old daily life back into the present. Not the full Dunphy household, perhaps, but close enough to make longtime viewers understand why the arrangement feels a little nostalgic.
