Fans preparing for Ariana Grande’s London dates now have another detail to manage before the singing begins: the Ariana Grande London bag rules require almost everything entering The O2 to be visible. Ticketmaster UK and the arena say each guest may bring only one fully transparent bag, with the policy mandatory for entry.
The restriction applies specifically to Grande’s Eternal Sunshine tour dates rather than The O2’s standard bag policy. That distinction matters because regular visitors could arrive expecting the venue’s usual rules and discover that their perfectly ordinary handbag has become a security problem.
What bags are allowed at The O2 shows?
Each ticket holder may carry one clear bag made from plastic, vinyl or PVC. It must measure no more than 30cm x 15cm x 30cm.
A clear resealable or freezer bag is also permitted, with The O2 and Capital FM listing a maximum size of 30cm x 26cm. Whatever option fans choose, all belongings must remain visible.
The following will not be accepted:
- Backpacks
- Handbags and clutches
- Tinted or patterned plastic bags
- More than one clear bag per person
- Smaller bags used to conceal items inside the approved bag
The guidance strongly encourages guests to bring only essentials. Belongings cannot be divided between several containers, even if each one happens to be transparent. Security has apparently decided that bag organization is now part of the concert experience.
Medical, accessibility, parent and child-care bags remain permitted, although venue staff will inspect them before entry.
Are cameras and phones permitted?
Professional cameras and recording equipment are prohibited at the London concerts. Mobile phones with built-in cameras are still allowed, so fans will not be required to preserve the evening through memory alone.
The dimensions are worth checking carefully rather than estimating on the journey. Bag policies have differed between Eternal Sunshine tour venues. Barclays Center in Brooklyn allowed bags measuring no more than 10 x 6 x 2 inches, while the Kia Forum permitted clear bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches as well as small opaque clutches.
That inconsistency creates a practical risk for anyone reusing a bag accepted at another stop. One attendee in Brooklyn said security discarded a clear promotional bag received at an Eternal Sunshine pop-up because it exceeded the venue’s limit. The account was posted online rather than confirmed by the venue, but the broader lesson is straightforward: clear does not automatically mean compliant.
Why are the security measures so strict?
Clear-bag restrictions are not new at Grande’s UK performances. Similar measures were used during her Sweetener World Tour in 2019, when she returned to Britain less than two years after the May 2017 terrorist attack outside Manchester Arena. Twenty-two people were killed after her concert.
Ahead of the 2019 tour, Grande told followers on Instagram that security would be “very precise and smooth but for sure super strict.” Reporting from her O2 show that year described clear bags, police and sniffer dogs among the safety measures.
The history gives the rules an emotional weight beyond ordinary venue administration. Grande’s return to live performance in the UK has long carried particular significance for fans, especially those who remember the Manchester attack and the One Love Manchester benefit concert that followed. The current London guidance does not cite a new threat, and no fresh statement from Grande or her representatives was found. The confirmation came from Ticketmaster UK and The O2, not from the singer herself.
The O2 also says Grande’s previous Sweetener World Tour attracted more than 1.3 million people across nearly 100 performances, making tightly managed entry more than a theoretical concern.
When are Ariana Grande’s London concerts?
Grande is scheduled to play 10 nights at The O2 between August 15 and September 1, one of the year’s largest arena residencies. The confirmed dates are:
- August 15, 16, 19 and 20
- August 23, 24, 27 and 28
- August 31
- September 1
The O2 identifies AXS as its official ticketing partner, although Ticketmaster has also sold or listed dates and published the tour-specific entry guidance.
The Eternal Sunshine tour began in June and has already drawn strong reviews. Grande’s album Petal is due on July 31, though it remains unclear whether songs from the record will be added to the setlist before the London run.
For ticket holders, the immediate task is less glamorous but more certain: measure the bag, make sure it is fully transparent and avoid placing smaller concealed pouches inside it. Arriving with only essential items should also reduce delays at security, allowing the evening to focus on the performance rather than an unexpectedly detailed discussion about PVC dimensions.
