For singers who have spent years aiming at this particular stage, American Idol Season 25 now has a clearer path to the microphone. The competition has been renewed, with its virtual nationwide audition tour beginning August 25 ahead of the milestone season’s planned 2027 run on ABC.

The announcement formally lays out the schedule for “Idol Across America,” covering all 50 states and Washington, D.C. It does not, however, settle every question. ABC has yet to announce a premiere date or confirm whether judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood will return. Host Ryan Seacrest’s involvement also was not addressed in the latest reports.

Casting itself was already in motion before the July 29 schedule release. Good Housekeeping reported on April 28 that the show had announced auditions were open, quoting its Instagram message: “Our search is on for #TheNextIdol!” The new announcement therefore adds firm dates and participation details rather than marking the first sign that another season was coming.
